Recently installed the above cooling unit on an Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero board. Noticed during install the dedicated water pump header and found that the pinout for the water pump header was reversed from traditional fan headers. Couldn't find anything that would make this header a problem at the time so I have the fans connected to the CPU_Fan header and the water pump connected to the water pump header.
Discovered last night during a failed shutdown where power wasn't killed properly that only the water pump actually lost power. Found that it was also the loudest component in existence.
Checked BIOS and RPM is reported at ~9200 RPM. Found other threads that said these speeds were normal so didn't think anything during install but doing some research after the shutdown last night, according to coolermaster, max speed is ~3300 RPM (http://us.coolermaster.com/product/Detail/cooling/lga-1151/masterliquid-pro-240.html).
1. Which header/pinout SHOULD I be using for this pump?
2. What is the purpose of the water pump header since the pinout is reversed and typically non-existent on a lot of boards?
