The problem has been happening regularly since i built it a few months ago. basically when i play relitivly demanding games such as tomb raider, GTA V or even overwatch and cs:go and only when playing video games, the computer without warning will turn stop outputting to my monitor or headphones, and from what my friends have told me they wont hear anything. The odd part about this is that my computer on light will still be on and the fans will keep spinning. the hard drive light stays compleatly off though. then i have to wait some time before turning it on again or the screen just stays black. another thing i noticed is when the computer does this, the light on my case that

since building my computer i have:
replaced my monitor (unrelated issue)
reinstalled my drivers for my graphics card.
added 2 new fans to my computer to keep it cooler as it was getting hot. (its no longer very hot when gaming)
ran ram checking software which found no problems.
ran hard drive checking software which found no problems.
checked for bios updates

really need some suggestions because i am compleatly lost, this is my first computer build (with help from a friend putting it together and finding the parts) and despite trying a lot of differnt things, we cant figure out what the problem is

my specs are:
AMD FX 8350
8GB of ram
msi gtx 960
1TB HDD
asrock 980de3/u3s3
windows 8.1

could really use some more suggestions on what i can do. thank you.
