The sounds could be indicating a physical hardware failure on the HDD. I'd advise you to get the HDD connected to another working PC around you and check if the drive will get recognized properly from there. If the same issue is still present, you should definitely check up on the warranty of the drive. In case it's still covered, you should be able to RMA it once you send a request to the manufacturer's or the reseller's customer support.
