So on my traditional Samsung 850 Evo there a 5 year warranty that - to my acknowledgement means that it SHOULD last through the 5 year period. Not that it will, but it should.
So I've been browsing numerous m.2 drives and unless you go for like a $350 500gb Samsung 950 pro - then a 5 year warranty is seemingly non-existent, and instead comes with a 3 year.
So being with a 3 year warranty, does anyone know how long a m.2 "should" last? I really want the upgrade, but not If I have a severe fail risk.

Today is your lucky day!

I maintain a consumer ssd database that is listed in a sticky at the very top of this forum section. The database displays the make, model, capacity, interface, controller, and flash memory. In addition there are links to technical reviews. The reviews are divided into two categories - English Language reviews and reviews in many other languages. There is no advertising or other distractions. It is strictly a hobby.

About 10 days ago I received several requests to add warranty and endurance information. I decided to make the additions to the database. Not all manufacturers publish that information so there are blanks. The PCIe and M.2 ssd sections are pretty much done. I started on the standard 2.5 inch SATA...

These drives don't fail due to age like traditional hard drives. They rate flash based drives in write cycles... so it's not terribly hard to estimate how long a particular drive will most likely last.

NOTA BENE - THERE IS NO UNIVERSAL STANDARD FOR "ESTIMATING" ENDURANCE! The manufacturers do not agree on a universal standard. You'll find endurance expressed several different ways. In addition, there are just too many variables that can affect endurance. The endurance figures are only an estimate.
