Recently I have had problems with my computer. While it is old, it was still fast and very usable. When I turned on my computer one day, it got to where it should have allowed me to log in, but the computer spontaneously turned off. I tried turning it back on, but nothing was happening. (MB light was green). About 5 mins later it turned on only to have the same effect. I disconnected everything except power and vga, and it worked. Then I plugged in everything else one by one and it still worked. However, my computer was insanely slow. I ran norton, and it found and removed "Trogan.GPE.N(something)". I narrowed it down to my Ethernet cable that shut down the computer on startup. My desktop doesn't have wireless internet so I need that cable plugged in. I was going to format my hdd and do a clean install, but my computer can't regognise the ssd I'm plugging in, and occasionally turns off when plugged in. The computer provides USB power when it turns off (which it normally doesn't), so I don't know what it is. Is my power supply shot or is that virus stuck on my computer? Either way I'm in a predicament and need some more advised people to help. I don't want to buy another whole computer... (also sorry for the length)
