Hey there,

So i finally finished gathering all my parts for my PC last Friday. This was my first time EVER building a PC. I had followed everything off Youtube and Google on how to build a PC. I got frustrated when i came to cabling, since i didn't understand anything. So i called it a night and went to bed. The next morning i ended finishing my build and was ready to turn it on. When i went to power it on, there was no sign on life besides from the JBAT1 blue light on my Motherboard. No fans spinning either. (I believe when you power up your PC, the fans are supposed to move. Atleast thats what i see on Youtube) My 3 front fans are connected to the back of the NZXT H440 New Edition fan hub/grid (Idk what you call it) Where all the fans are connected. Theres a PWM cable which i connected to a CPU_FAN header on the front of my MB. Theres a Extension Cable which told me to connect my CPU Cooler cable to it which is attached the Fan hub at the back. I have the required PSU cables tightly attached to the PSU and Motherboard. You know, 20/24 Pin, 8 Pin cable that powers you CPU, PCI-E cable that powers the GPU, SATA cables for the SSD and HDD, I believe the Peripharels Cable slot on my PSU is to to power them (Corsair HX850i) I also have a voltage device that beeps to any cable to signify if power is transferring through. When i put it to the cord thats attached to wall to my PSU, there is power, but when i put it on the cables in my System, they dont seem to be receiving power. (Atleast i think so, the fans dont spin so i think there not power, but theres a blue light above JBAT1) The Molex cable on the back of my case thats attached to the Fan Hub (Which i think is to power the Hub so that the fans that are connected to the hub can run) only has 3 pins with 1 pin missing. It has 4 holes, but 3 pins coming out of it. Though there seems to be no cables connected to the missing slot. As if it were designed just like that. So when i attached my Molex cable from my PSU to my Fan hubs Molex cable, there are only 3 pins going into it instead of 4. Is there only supposed to be 4 pins on the Molex Cable on the NZXT H440 New Edition? I feel like this could be the reason why my PC isnt booting up since all the fans are connected to this hub.

My Specs:
i7 6700K
MSI Z170A Gaming M5
Corsair H115i CPU Cooler
Kingston Fury - Black 16GB Ram
Samsung EVO850 500GB SSD
Western Digital 2T HDD
Corsair HX850i PSU
NZXT H440 New Edition
GeForce GTX 750ti (Borrowing it from a friend, since i cant afford a high end one yet. Will be replacing it out for a 1070 once i get the money)

Could it be my PSU? I have never touched it besides from last Friday when i was building my PC for the first time. Its completely new, out of the box.

If anyone could help or would like me to clear something up if you dont understand something, that would be great. Its been 5 days now since i built it, and still now luck.

Hi, Let's start it simple, I'd say. Try leaving only CPU and CPU fan installed, both 24 and 8 pin power cables connected to the motherboard. CPU fan connected to the board too. Nothing else (no other cables/components connected).
Start the board by shortly touching with a screwdriver the 2 pins on the board corresponding to the case power button.
See if the CPU fan does spin.

I dont quiet get what you mean. Sorry! Very new to all this. My Processor is already in and secured and my CPU Cooler is already mounted in with screws. The 24 Pin is already connected to my motherboard aswell as the 8 pin. I believe the 8 pin is to power my CPU correct? Its the one located at the very top of the motherboard to the left, right?

This is were i dont understand anything. Im a noob. "Start the board by shortly touching with a screwdriver the 2 pins on the board corresponding to the case power button." I dont know what "Shortly Touching" is and idk what the 2 pins are on the board.

I just tried the paperclip thing with my PSU 24 pin with the Molex cable attached to the other Molex cable on the my cases hub. Located at the back of my case which powers the little grid which has all the fans connect to it. When i went to turn it on, i saw the fans spinning.(No other cables were plugged in, just the 24 pin and molex cable so that i could test my fans) I was to excited about it working since its the first time seeing my PC actually do something in 5 days that i didnt see if the CPU fans at the top were spinning. However, i did get my other fans to spin. Is this progress?

UPDATE: So i did the paperclip thing with all the cables needed to run a PC plugged into the PSU. (So everything plugged in to the motherboard except the 24 pin) I turned the power on and walah! The 3 front fans were spinning, back fan was spinning, the 2 CPU fans on my CPU Cooler were spinning. The LED light on the letters of the case that spell "NZXT" were lit. However, the LEDS on the Power button at the top of my NZXT H440 should have been lit up aswell (I think) Seeing as the 24 pin wasnt actually connected to my motherboard when doing the paperclip test, i dont think it would have turned on, but my PC does seem to turn on when doing the paperclip method. Though, once 24 pin is plugged back into my motherboard. When i go to press to the power button at the top of my case, nothing happens. I believe now its got something to do with my Power button at the top and not any of my components (I believe). Your supposed to plug the P LED + and P LED - ect cables into the JFP1 correct? Thats what Youtube and Google and my manual tell me. Though nothing happens. I believe i have them in the right spot, though i dont know if facing the label up or down matters, just aslong as positive is to positive and negative is to negative right? So now im sus that its my Power button seeing as when i do the paperclip method everything turns on, whereas when its 24 pin is plugged into my MB nothing happens when i press the power button.

"Your supposed to plug the P LED + and P LED - ect cables into the JFP1 correct?"

PLED, as the name says, does refer to LED.
You have to connect the power switch wires to the power switch pins (6 and 8 on the JFP1).

If wires connected, when pressing the power switch, you actually do short/make a connection between the 2 pins. That's why I suggested touching/shorting/making a connection between the 2 pins with a screwdriver/metallic object. This way, you'd rule out a broken switch.

"You have to connect the power switch wires to the power switch pins (6 and 8 on the JFP1)."

I do have the "Power SW" plugged into pins 6 and 8 on the JFP1. Could it be that i have them facing the wrong way? The "Power SW" label is facing up (Towards the top of my case) Should it be the other way so that the label is facing down? (Towards the bottom of my case)

So your saying to touch pins 6 and 8 on on the JFP1 with a metal screwdriver? Does it matter if its not magnetic? Cause i dont have a magnetic screwdriver. By touching Pins 6 and 8 on the JFP1, what will that do? That wont damage or break anything right? Im very new to the whole PC world, so i dont want to break/damage anything. (I quiet dont have the money atm)

"This way, you'd rule out a broken switch."
What does this mean aswell? Sorry, but asking question is the only way to understand something :)

"Should it be the other way so that the label is facing down?"
For switches, polarity does not matter. When pressing the switch, you're just creating a connection between the 2 pins, for a short period of time, via the switch, so it does not matter which way you're connecting the 2 wires.

" Does it matter if its not magnetic?"
No, It has to be metal, in order to connect the 2 pins.

"That wont damage or break anything right?"
No. The screwdriver would play the role of the switch.

""This way, you'd rule out a broken switch."
What does this mean aswell?"

A broken switch might not be able to short the 2 pins, if defective.

Okay. So all i have to do is touch Pins 6 and 8 on the JFP1 on my motherboard with a metal screwdriver. Do i do this with my PSU turned on with the 24 pin connected to my motherboard or with the PC turned off and outlet cord detach from my PSU so that theres no electricity passing through?

What will happen after i do this? Say i touch pins 6 and 8 with the screwdriver. Do i just put the cables that are meant to be in Pins 6 and 8 back? What should happen? What should i expect?
