Hi everyone.
I've been thinking of getting a new mobo, and i've veen looking at this list: http://www.thebestgamingmotherboards.com/best-z270-motherboards

My current build can be seen at the bottom of the post.

I don't want to overclock, and i dont need SLI support either, but the reason im looking at the Z270 boards is because it seems like they are better overall (besides OC capabilities). Am i correct in thinking this? Or would you guys recommend i get a H270 board instead?

Another question i have is if my current cpu, the 4790K, would work with one of the newer motherboards? Or should i be looking at getting a Kabylake processor?

Finally, are there any other components i should be getting in order to not get bottlenecked?

Thanks guys!

No sorry your 4790k is not compatible with that motherboard. You have to stick with LGA1150 boards like the Z97. Why are you wanting to upgrade? The Asus Z97-A is a great board and even a new i7 7700k on a new Z270 motherboard would not be an upgrade in performance. Your 4790k is still awesome.

If you want to upgrade to the Z270/H270 you'll have to buy new DDR4 memory and CPU as well. IMO it's not worth the money. Rather invest in something else like a GPU or another SSD. You will see better performance in return for your money.

I personally still use a core i5 4690K and a MSI Z97 board paired with a EVGA 1070SC and I can tell you that the CPU has no problem keeping up with the graphics card whatsoever.

I see on CPU validator that you use a GTX 970. I would look at upgrading that first. That is currently your bottleneck.

Oh, i just figured i needed a new one, since i've been having so many problems with my PC since day one.
What other parts could be upgraded, to get an "optimal" build?
I'm thinking of getting a different PSU since i suspect the one i currently own of being the main culprit in my issues. Hopefully my Antec warranty still works

What model psu are you currently using?

Ah sorry i thought my PSU was listed in the CPU validator.

My PSU is the Antec TP-650C

If it isn't my motherboard or my PSU i don't know what is the problem :/ I'm just so fed up with the constant BSODs and other crashes ...

The EVGA Supernova G3 650W would be a good upgrade. Upgrading to either the 1070 or 1080 would be a significant boost. The 1060 would just be a baby step. We only take those when we are finding our OC wall.

Yeah i've heard many great things about it. That is the one i've been looking at - the modular part of it is what appeals the most to me, since i'm tired of cabels just lying around in the front of my case.
Question is, is it really better than the Antec? It's the same voltage.

Also, i read that the 1080 is around 100% better than the 970 - but do i really need that?
I mostly play games like Rainbow Six Siege and sometimes League of Legends, and neither game requires that much.

I guess i'm just a sucker for spending my money on stuff, LOL
Do you guys know when's the best "time" to buy one of the new GPUs? Sales etc (in Europe). Cause they look quite expensive right now.

Thanks for all your input guys! Keep em coming :)

Imo it's the better PSU. Just from what I've read about it in reviews. It's also has a single +12V rail which I prefer. Just an opinion. You'd be buying into a 7 year warranty with the G3. 2 years longer than the 650 TP. Does that mean EVGA is more confident in their build quality. Imo it does.

Not really. I have the 970 FTW and the 4690K and will eventually go for the 1070. Not any time soon. It's not for what I need. While that is important I am also investing in what I will need. I want it to slightly exceed my needs so new releases won't whoop its tail.

Pcpartpicker.com does have a price drop notification feature.

Ok, thanks, i will check out the EVGA PSU :)

And i think i will wait for the next gen GPU (That'll be 1100 series i guess?)

You're welcome :) .

That'll be sometime in Oct. or maybe early Nov.. With Gddr6 memory they will certainly be a game(ha!) changer. Now all that needs to happen is for Intel to actually put some real effort into a game changer. Too many mainstream users doesn't give them incentive to break the mold like they did with the 2500K. Releases, like Kaby Lake have been little bumps in performance increases. AMD has been winning on the Direct X 12 title war. Nvidia seems to have the best performing GPU at the moment but it's partially Intel's fault for not staying on par with these beasts that are called GFX cards. Interesting to see what these new GFX cards will bring to the table.
