Hey everyone, this is my first computer build. My Asrock Fatal1ty Extreme k6+ z170 motherboard will not post to the BIOS with the new Kaby Lake i7 7700K, my CPU fans and Case fans not spinning but they do move a little when I power off the Mobo. Mobo Dr Debug displays 00 error code. There is also no signal on my monitor. I've tried all the trouble shooting tips on http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems. I'm just trouble shooting with my Mobo, PSU, CPU, CPU Fans, HDD, and 1 Case fan connected, all sitting ontop of a cardboard box.

Could it just be that I need to update BIOS to run the i7 7700k Kaby Lake?

My specs https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZkNrwV

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Thanks for the reply.

Didn't end up taking it to the local PC store, bought a new Intel Celeron G3900 and tried it out, still getting Dr Debug code 00 not posting or loading BIOs. Not sure what the problem could be, I decided to send it back to the store I bought it from, seeing that it is still under warranty. They said they will get their guys to investigate and see what the problem is, will update thread when I get an answer.

I'm having exactly the same problem brother. I got the ASRock Z170A-X1/3.1 with a Pentium G4620, No post no Beep no nothing. Sent it back specifying that I needed the new one with an updated BIOS and they sent me one with the version 2.20 _-_ I'm really frustrated, Can't update the BIOS to 7.10 because I don't have any other CPU to run it with, please inform us about any progress.. maybe it will help me too

Need a compatible CPU to do that (Skylake) ... For me since I don't have access to any other CPU I'm just going to give my mobo back and get another model that really supports Kaby Lake out of the Box and comes with all it's updates. Unless somebody comes up with a solution and save me some time and trouble :(

I would return your motherboard then and buy a Z270. There is no other solution other than borrowing/buying a skylake cpu to update the bios.

Don't see any Mobo Z270 under $100...

Maybe not now, but it would definitely save you time and trouble. There are some around the $100.
There is no guarantee that you may get a Z170 motherboard that has a compatible version unless you were able to ask for one that isn't old stock.
