So I'm about to build a minecraft server for 300$.
Specs:
CPU:
Intel Pentium G4400 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor
MoBo:
Gigabyte GA-H110M-A Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
RAM:
Corsair 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
SSD:
ADATA XPG SX910 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
and of course a HDD.
What do u guys think about this idea?? Is it worth the money or can I get more performance for the same money??

Thy for the replys in advance
Arthur

Solution
Awh I somehow stopped following this thread.

The G3258 is stronger single core in every contest when put up against these locked up little kaby lakes.
2% faster stock out the box, up to 25% faster with a mild OC that can be achieved on cheap air coolers.

Considering Minecraft is java, and Java does not like threading at all what so ever, this was a very new and expensive build, to run software that is older than most of the people using it.

Honestly, 4 threads provides zero benefit to minecraft.

I think you'd be better off going with a G3258 build. It has an unlocked multiplier and can easily be pushed to 4.5GHz on an simple air cooler. This is going to give you much, much better performance on the single (at best dual) threaded java programming that minecraft runs on.

Not only is it going to be dramatically faster, it should be cheaper overall given the slight age.
You won't benefit from any of the features that skylake has for a java server.

You need more RAM. You should really run a minecraft server on a RAM disk. I would put in at least 16GB. With 4GB going to the RAM disk, 8GB going to the server, and 4GB should be plenty for the OS and stuff to run smoothly.

An SSD is fast, but not fast enough for minecraft in most cases - a RAM disk will be around 10 times faster to write your chunks than an SSD.

Thy for the quick reply. I'll get 16 GB RAM. But technically the G4400 would work??

So u would suggest not using a kaby lake. So for me, I already ordered some parts of the build, so it doesn't matters for me anymore, but thanks for the other info :D Hopefull this thread will help other peoples.
