GTX 1070 Under-performing Massively

Recently upgraded from a GTX 970 to a 1070. I expected the fps to improve however in many cases it remains the same and sometimes its worse. Any reason this would be happening?

Specs:

GTX 1070
i7 4790k @ 4ghz
16gb ram

Did you reinstall your drivers?
Did you make sure you plugged your monitor into the GPU, not the motherboard.

You should be getting around 50% better performance in games than you were with the 970.

yeah reinstalled drivers 4 times. did a clean reinstall.

also yes, i did :lol: im not that stupid

Honestly, im not even sure its an issue. I have the 1070 and i have had a decent boost but not nearly what i thought it would be. I think people just set expectations too high.

but to go from 60+ fps in gta v then buy a 1070 and have between 40-50fp. something seems off

Did you uninstall previous drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (quick google search should find it).

I would recommend monitoring CPU/GPU usage and core clock while in game. This will help you to find where your issue is at.
