Wireless adapter speeds

I'm building my first rig, and I wanted to ask a quick question first before I make a decision on wireless adapters.

If I have a router that runs on 30mbps, and I buy a wireless adapter for 300mbps, will that limit the speed of my wireless adapter? Will it only be able to run at 30mbps due to the router?

Thanks, I hope you can help answer my question!

Solution
Your wireless connection between the router and your computer might be faster; however, your internet connection is 30Mb/s.

If you transfer data between your computer and another device you might get speeds up to 150Mb/s.

A 300Mb/s wireless card has actually max 150Mb/s upload + 150Mb/s download speed which adds up to 300Mb/s.
