Crossfire install now gpu fans not spinning

So I installed second rx 480 today. I have not set up crossfire yet. As soon as windows loads my gpu fans stop. They spin and light up before that point every time. Any idea why.

Are you certain they previously stayed spinning while only booted up in Windows in 2D graphics mode? Most modern graphics card don't spin their fan(s) until there is a certain load or heat level achieved.

I might not have noticed before. My second one has lighted fans so it's far more visable. They do light and spin up until I get to home screen. So this is normal?

I'm pretty sure that it's normal. If you want to be absolutely certain, you could remove the second card and boot up with only the first one. But it is indeed normal behavior. Now once you setup crossfire and you get a few minutes into intense gaming, you should definitely see the fans spanning. I'm jealous of your two RX 480s. I bet you're going to play some pretty awesome titles. Enjoy.

Secondary cards will often go into power saving mode when not being used (ie most of the time when not gaming). While everything powers up when ou start the PC its normal for the fans to shut off.
