Computer randomly restarts when gaming. I have to underclock my GPU to prevent the random restarts.

I've heard it can be my GPU, and I have GTX980 SC. However, I've noticed that if I underclock my gpu (-100Mhz GPU clock and -100Mhz MEM clock) the random restarts don't happen. Can I just get a list of problems it could be? So I can just go down the check list? Ask me for any more info you guys need!

Solution
No prob! If it's reading right those volts are good.

Only way to see temps would be to use afterburners on screen display and just watch it as you play.

Another thing to try is to download OCCT and run the cpu and gpu tests and watch the temps there. Don't run the psu test as it loads everything at once and could kill the psu.

PSU: Tagan BZ Series 1300W

I believe I have tried unintalling with the DDU thing before.

Still need some time to monitor temperatures. Is there some software that, even if the computer restarts, it creates a text file of your tempature? So basically I can look at the data before it restarted.

You can check the system logs to see which errors appear.

That PSU manufacturer went out of business back in '09 so the unit is ancient. It could be going bad but can't say for sure. Any chance you can borrow one or have a spare to try? Also, is there a page in your BIOS that shows the voltages where you can see how the 3.3, 5, and 12V are (you get about +/- 5% wiggle)?

I would imagine it's old! It's the only part that hasn't been upgraded since we first got the PC. I probably can't find another to test. Let's see here.. For the voltages. I think I might have found info, tell me if I'm wrong..
CPU CORE: 1.048V
CPU IO: 1.016V
SYSTEM 3.3V: 3.376V
SYSTEM 5V: 5.080V
SYSTEM 12V: 12.096V
DRAM: 1.488V and 1.504V

And how do I use system info to find the tempature right before the computer rebooted? Im not finding anything. I just wanted to thank you for your help so far!

Ok so, just got in some time to test out if anything is overheating. Right before the random restart, My GPU temp was 52C and the usage was at 68%. CPU Temps are fine. This all means that it's for sure the PSU then? I had EVGA Precision make a log history file, and I was able to monitor everything that happened right up until the restart!

You could try running with a single stick of ram, if still crashes pull it and try the other (assuming you have two sticks). Could also run memtest86 for 24 hours and see if it has errors.

Another thing would be to install windows from scratch.

If you have the cash tho, a new psu is worth a try. A decent 750 or 850W should be plenty. Something tier 1-3:
