I am trying to work the kinks out my new build:

Gigabyte Z170N-WIFI
Intel i5
NVMe Samsung SSD 960
No GPU, integrated graphics only
View Sonic VX2452mh monitor

I can move into and out of sleep mode without issues. However, when the computer has been in sleep mode for a longer period of time, like over night, there is no signal to the monitor upon awakening. In order to again get signal to the monitor, I must shutdown and unplug the computer. The problem occurs when using either HDMI or DVI connections.

From the English GA-Z170N-WIFI & GA-H170N-WIFI User's Manual on Page 23.

Advanced Frequency Settings ===> Advanced CPU Core Settings

C6/C7 State Support (Note 1)
Allows you to determine whether to let the CPU enter C6/C7 mode in system halt state. When enabled, the
CPU core frequency and voltage will be reduced during system halt state to decrease power consumption.
The C6/C7 state is a more enhanced power-saving state than C3. Auto lets the BIOS automatically configure
this setting. (Default: Auto)

I wouldn't trust IN WIN when they claim that their IP-S300FF1-0 H is Intel Haswell Ready. It's a passive PFC, group regulated circuit design PSU.

Try turning off/disabling any C6/C7 processor power state support in the motherboard's BIOS and see if the problem still happens.
