I have a pretty bad cpu at the moment was thinking about buying the i5 6600k or the i7 6700k or maybe even the i7 6800k, I'm not really sure. Currently I have a 500 Watt PSU and am not quite sure if upgrading to the new CPU will force me to upgrade my PSU aswell. I just have a basic computer, just the base essentials to play games, nothing special.
I have a R9 270 Graphics card.

A good way to double check power needs is to rebuild your system in pcpartpicker and check the estimated wattage in the top right of the list. But i am very sure that will work. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/
