Just bought a 1TB Evo SSD and was wanting to install it tonight. The first and only (didn't upgrade from 7/8 or anything) OS that is on my current HDD is Windows 10 Home. Does the license register with the motherboard in my computer? If so, all I would have to do is just unplug my HDD and install the SSD and insert the Windows 10 media and enter the key code when the time comes and I should be set?

Any feedback is appreciated

Solution
Correct. All you need to do is remove your current drive and install the OS on your new SSD and reactivate. Should happen without issue.

It's with the "computer". How that's defined can keep lawyers busy for a while...

Replacing your HD with a SSD should be fine. Ya, get a Windows 10 Install Media (Microsoft has a website to get the official image), use your current key (you can use an little utility called ProduKey to view your current key) and you should be all set
