i have a chance to snag a USED amd radeon HD 5970 for 50$ which is all i can afford right now. my current card is a cheap GT 630 budget gpu how well will this 5970 card run doom 4 at 1080p on decent settings with a constant 60fps or higher keep in mind this is a dual gpu card aka crossfire on a single pcb if you like to can link me to some benches for this card

the question I have for you is the following
what is the make and model and wattage of the power supply your PC is running.
I ask because looking at the approximate power consumption of your system

The HD 5000/6000 series have been going strong for a long time, and can still handle AAA games at a decent performance. You should be able to run Doom at 1080p (high settings presumed), but you may not be guaranteed to get a consistent 60fps.

how well does your 1050 TI run doom 4

5970 is dual gpu. AFAIK doom coming out after AMD no longer supporting 5k and 6k series in their main driver. so the performance most likely equal to single 5870 in that game since AMD did not have crossfire profile for doom made for that card. what other used card can you get?

My GTX 1050 Ti runs Doom 4 at 1080p, ultra settings at higher than 100fps with Vulkan enabled. It's a significant difference with Vulkan on. I cannot wait how well this will API go for games.

OuterVision PSU Calculator part list

Motherboard: Desktop
CPU: 1 x Intel Xeon W3565 CPU Speed: 3200MHz CPU Vcore: 1.2V
CPU Utilization: 90%
Memory: 1 x 8GB DDR3 Module
Video Card Set 1: 1 x AMD Radeon HD 5970 Core Clock: 725MHz Memory Clock: 1000MHz

Load Wattage: 488W
Recommended Wattage: 538W
Generated by OuterVision PSU Calculator 2017-01-20 08:44:53

so your looking at 600W needed for power supply,
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.49 @ SuperBiiz)

it would put you out counting the video card for ~100$

lets look at your configuration with a GTX 1050ti
OuterVision PSU Calculator part list

Motherboard: Desktop
CPU: 1 x Intel Xeon W3565 CPU Speed: 3200MHz CPU Vcore: 1.2V
CPU Utilization: 90%
Memory: 1 x 8GB DDR3 Module
Video Card Set 1: 1 x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Load Wattage: 319W
Recommended Wattage: 369W

so you would be able to use it on your computer.? still depends on the power of your power supply being able to support the need (400W PSU) the price is also a lot steeper.

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Video Card ($139.99 @ B&H)
