You should check that you mounted the CPU cooler correctly. If the fans are getting louder it sounds like they're desperately trying to dump heat and failing.

Download something like CoreTemp and use it to monitor the CPU temp on your system. I assume you've got at least two fans in the system (CPU & GPU) which one is getting louder?

I would definitely check the mounting of the CPU cooler. Get a suitable cloth to clean off the old paste and a tube of thermal paste handy before you remove the cooler. Not to insult your intelligence but you did remove the plastic from the bottom of the heat sink when you mounted your CPU fan?

sorry, forgot to mention but i purchased this PC from amazon, as i had no idea really when it came to PC's. i have emailed the supplier (AWD-IT) and all they have said so far was to run this file and see if it crashed out which it did as my PC restarted.

Download Core Temp and run the program while doing nothing else, that will give you a base CPU temperature. It should be under 65C really. Then run the file they sent you and watch if the temp increases while it runs, it shouldn't be going over 70C and certainly not 80C.

I agree that you shouldn't tinker inside on a brand new machine (thought it was a self build at first). However I would do some basic software investigation first.

On that note if you've only just got the PC demand they exchange or refund the computer. Make a note of any serial numbers you can see before sending it back to them.

Yes, I think that's what I'll do, it is literally brand new, just under a month old. Surely they cannot refuse me if I say I want an exchange can they. As long as I've not tampered with it
