Hello everyone!
I'm planing to buy pc and since I am on budget I have to go with i3 6100 3.7Ghz cpu, It's really good cpu and I saw on Youtube and many on forums that it works really good if paired with higher frequency ram. My budget allows me to get HyperX Fury 2666mhz 4GBx2. To obtain that frequency on ram do I need to OC Cpu or I can simpy get that speed with PnP? I saw some people say you can obtain it without OCing Cpu and some say you must OC it to get 2666mhz on Ram. I know for 3000mhz+ you must OC your CPU just not sure for if I need for this Ram in which case I must give an extra buck for an aftermarket cooler like cooler master hyper 213 evo. Thanks in advance for all the help!
Ps: I going with Ga-z170-hd3 Mobo. I saw some good reviews about it and its not that much pricey.

Solution
What I meant to say was, using the Z170 board you simply set your RAM speed, no need to OC the processor. They're separate.
It will work. You need a "Z" chipset to run higher than 2133mhz RAM with Skylake. However, I have some thoughts:

You're spending about $65 more for your board than with a B150 board. An i5 6500 is around $65 more than an i3 6100, and an i5 6500 + B150 board would be far faster than the i3 + Z170 combo, for the same price.

7xxx CPUs are also out. The i3 7100 is 200mhz faster and costs the same as the 6100. It would need to be paired with a 2xx chipset, but there are plenty of good B250 and Z270 boards out there.

The Pentium G4560 is basically an i3 6100 replacement, and only costs $65.

So, I don't think the 6100 is a good buy anymore, considering the new CPUs and chipsets that have come out.

I'm not asking will it work, I know it will work with z170 chipset, I am asking will I need to OC i3 6100 to get 2666mhz ram speed. I5 6500 is like 240-250€ and i3 6100 is 130€-135€ and i3 6100 when paired with good Ram it comes close to i5 6500(5-10fps(2133mhz ram)difference). With i3 6100 I can run all games ultra 1080p 60fps+ no problem. In 4-5 years if needed for upgrade I'll get i7-6700k or kabylake who knows. Second, you do not need b250/z270 chipset. Z170/B150/H170/H110 will support kabylake. I live in Montenegro(Balkan), everything here is overpriced and you rarely see good manufactors like an EVGA, Corsair, XFX etc.

Admirable
If you have stronger card like GTX 1060 or RX 480, that i3 will sit most of the time at 100% on newer games, going i5 is much better choice. Virtual threads will never replace true cores.Have you looked into used parts market. I think for a same price you could get i7 3770 and some mobo with it and cheap ddr3 ram for the same price you will pay that i3 board and ram or probably much lower.

I'm going with GTX 1060 6GB g1 gaming, the i3 6100 bottlenecks it a bit 2-3% max at high processor power demanding games like GTA V, but if you hit i3 6100 with higher frequency ram 2666mhz+ , it improves performance up to 11%. I know i3 6100 is not ideal, but budget constricts me of getting any better CPU. And still I wont get answer if I need to OC i3 6100 to obtain 2666mhz RAM speed..
