Title. Simple and understandable answers, my sister is building her first gaming rig, and we miss only the motherboard, which one is worth for her to go with? Which one is better, more viable and/or decent quality? Don't mind the prices as we have money atm and we want definitely something future proof in this case for the next 3-4 years.

I don't get putting a X99 MoBo in a "gaming rig". The only reason to do so, from a performance standpoint, would be to use 3 or more GFX cards ...and with SLI no longer officially supported with 3 or more cards, unless that box is going to serve a dual roles as a rendering or video editing box, then I would tell you that, while the split wins in gaming test Z170 wins more than it loses up against X99.... at Z270 is faster than Z170. And, if anything and tho I cringe using the word, Z270 will be more "future proof" than X99.

As for choosing between the two, I am not a fan of either ... on newegg, more board owners are extremely disappointed with the board (1 egg reviews) than those who love it (5 eggs).

If it's me ... well again, if it's me Id build a Z270 box in late April after the bugs wash out ... but for X99 I'd choose the:

MSI X99A XPower Gaming Titanium
MSI X99A Gaming Pro Carbon
MSI X99A SLI Krait Edition

You can return unopened packages no problem.

When doing a build, picking the most expensive item in each category, usually will not deliver top performance. The Titan for example will not get you gaming performance as good as the x80Ti.

We probably won't wait until then, I know there must be some better options out there, but for now this is the build we'd like to do, and yes, it will have the purposes of both gaming and video editing. Because she's gonna start off with YT videos and then probably with Streaming, and especially on the YT part, she's gonna need a very decent hardware for video editing.

The mobos I'm talking about are found here :

MSI X99A Gaming 7 : http://www.skroutz.gr/s/6956984/MSI-X99A-Gaming-7.html#specs

MSI X99A Gaming 9 : http://www.skroutz.gr/s/6890933/MSI-X99A-Gaming-9-ACK.html?keyphrase=msi+x99s+gaming+9#specs

We're planning on creating a gaming rig which will also have the capabilities to edit videos, and then, after a year or so, we'll start thinking about what to change or improve.

This video is a reference on what we're planning to do as close as possible to this build : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVhCzSD5HN0

Please, stick to the topic, don't tell us what to change or what to fix for now, we're going to order one of these two, problem is, we don't know which one, as we already did a search and we didn't really see any major insane difference between them, the only difference we've witnessed is that 9 is higher in price because it's newer, I think.

Then my choice would be the MSI Titanium ... other suggestions.... this was based upon a build i put together for a video editing buff ... it works with your 5930k and ya save the $450

PCpartpicker can't seem to find the correct GFX card so I manuall edited in the MSI Seahawk 1080 EK X

PCpartpicker can't seem to find the correct case i was looking for... Sis deserves a case worthy of an art gallery :)
Phanteks ENTHOO EVOLV ATX GLASS PH-ES515ETG_GS
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811854040

I know 'it matters, so all parts are color matched :)

EDIT: Just saw ya link to Joanne's build ... which is outta date and as some significant mismatches ... but after all, as she said, this was what components were available given her build sponsors ... hence the outdated GPU, H100i with weak pump, aluminum rads and extremely loud fans, low budget PSU, and storage which would be hard to pick something slower

I don't list the Titanium, and I asked an answer between those two, we live in Greece and we can't order with our cards from US or anywhere around the net, probably at some point in the future we will make something else, but until then, this is the best we could pull off. Please, stick to the topic which one of these two? The 7 or the 9? Thanks.
