Do you really need a cooler? Yes. All desktop processors need coolers. Most intel and amd cpus come with a stock cooler. But those get loud and your processor will run hot compared to a cheap aftermarket cooler like a Hyper 212 Evo which is about $30 on amazon.

You absolutely do need a heat sink of some sort. You can try the stock sink but if you get some throttling then get aftermarket. Just monitor your temps with HWmonitor and see how it goes during gaming. If your reaching the threshold then look into say the Hyper 212 as Keelin Ty suggested. Cheap effective.
