Hello,

I recently received a Sapphire HD 5770 512 MB video card and i was curious how it compares to my n250 GTS 1GB. Please do not recommend buying a new card, i already have the 2 and have limited budget.

My sytem is
CPU - i3 2100
MOBO - Asus P8H67-M PRO
HDD - Western Digital, info on this will be useless.
RAM - 4 GB RAM KVR Kingston low profile single sided ( forgot the actual code )
PSU - BeQuiet 540W
OS: Windows 10.
Latest Drivers.

Sorry if the info about my system is incomplete, i am at work and i do not know my system from the top of me head.

I have searched everywhere for a comparison between the n250 and HD 5770 and everywhere i have found that HANDS DOWN HD 5770 is superior, "no contest" , Better, faster, stronger. But i was quite confused because on gpureview.com, the only thing that the N250 has better is the Texel/s (texture fill rate) and it better by almost 12 mil.

So i have plugged the card in, one at a time and compared them in games, only 2 atm.

League of Legends - I usually run it caped at 60 FSP but for the love of the experiment i uncapped the FPS(Max settings)
-N250 GTS - uncapped FPS reaches at a max to 310/s but it is mostly between 250 and 280
-HD 5770 is kinda stable at 180 FPS.

EVE Online, this one is tricky:
-N250 GTS - High detail ( max everything ) i was getting 70 FPS in station and also 70 FSP outside station in heavy environment ( dust particles ). The FPS fluctuates a little but i blame my other applications for this, it usually does this for the first 5 minutes of the game then it stabilizes.
It can run uncapped with very high FSP but it will cook the GPU very fast, lost a video card that way.
-HD 5770 - High detail in station i get 35 FPS looking at a quiet area, outside station also 35 FSP, setting to Medium i get 65 FPS but it drops to 30 when i hit a heavy environment and you can actually feel how the GPU struggles to fill the texture.

The N250 has a 256 buss with 1GB
The HD5770 has 128 buss with 512 MB

My question is (sorry for the wall of txt), why is the HD 5770 BETTER than the N250 GTS ?
Numbers show that is, actual game performance ( the ones that i play ) says the otherwise.
Am i doing something very bad and i am not noticing it? I have reinstalled the OS last week and every driver is freshly installed.

The other difference is that the n250 can reach up to 70 Celsius while i struggle to make the HD to go over 45 Celsius.
Sorry for the possibility of to much information or for the lack of it ( first time posting here )

Maybe i am doing something horribly wrong.
I do notice a difference between the cards in EVE, dust clouds are not generated with the N250 and this is because DX 11 does not work on it.
But my question will be, why do i need to set all the settings to LOW on the HD to make it run like the N250 GTS on HIGH ?

Games that can run in DX9 or DX11 will generally run faster in DX9. So you can't directly compare the two cards unless you force the game to run in DX9 on both of them. Next, high settings use up videocard memory. The card with 512mb will struggle once you get past a certain resolution and settings. It's not that it's slower, it's just that it runs out of memory.

Put the games on a low resolution, force them in DX9 mode, lower the settings, the compare the two cards. The 5770 is the better card overall, but it might not be the better card for YOU, because of the games you play and the settings you use.

Dont,

DX9 is out of the question, EVE for example does not use DX9 for over one year now, DX9 is sunset.
I did notice some extra effects that i was unable to see before with the HD, how will i exacly disable DX11 on the HD because i know the 250GTS does not know how to DX11 and that might be the entire issue with twice the FPS no matter what.

Changing the settings on the HD will not do anything, unless i go for LOW and then the game looks more like Homeworld than EvE. The HD will stay at 60 fps-stable only when the Shader is LOW and the Texture is Medium.
