Hello

I built a custom PC a few weeks ago, the only parts i took from my old PC were my HD and PSU (630W). Everything runs smothly except my PC sometimes shuts down when I run games. After booting up again it will just state that "Power supply surrges were detected during the previous power on. ASUS anti-surge was triggered." After some research I found out that my old PSU is probably the cause of this.

However the only thing i know to diffferentiate between PSUs is their wattage. Wattage should not be a problem with my setup though...

So my question is: will a new PSU stop these "Surges" and if so which one i need to buy? Thanks in advance!

Solution
Component quality and surge protection will vary even when wattage is the same on various moels.

It's a little outdated, but explains the differences here http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html?_ga=1.151155836.499395850.1474638331

Pick any from the top two tiers. The Seasonic m12II 550w or EVGA G2 are good choices if youre on a budget..
