Hi im having problems getting my kingston v200+ ssd to run at sata 3.0 speeds ive tried every port , installed all the drivers and fiddled with the bios changing from ahci to ide , enabling and dissabling hot plugs rebooted updated bios and all to no avail when i bench mark using pc benchmark tool its operating at 122mb/s and tells me to check its connected to a sata 6g port because its operating bellow spec . I need someone who has a sabertooth x79 mobo to tell me step by step how to set up sata 6g . Please help .

With the X79 chipset, only 2 ports are capable of 6Gb speeds. Some motherboard makers, including Asus, added extra "6Gb" controllers, but they weren't reallt capable of 6G speeds because they were reduced to a single PCIe lane, reducing he effective speeds to about 4Gb, and that was only if only one drive was active at the time.

So, make sure the drive you're using is connected to ports 0 or 1, the 2 brown ports on that board. The white/gray ports claim to be 6Gb, but really aren't. The black ports are 3Gb on the Intel controller, and actually perform better than the Marvell ports. Oh, and make sure the Intel controller is in AHCI mode. IDE mode will significantly reduce performance.

Hi thanks i can confirm that my ssd is connected to the intel port 1 ive set sata to ahci mode . No luck still not running at 6g speed . i then disabled marvel and no luck . i then checked disk management and my ssd is listed as a scsi disk could this be the problem ? Have i installed windows in scsi mode or somthing and now have to reinstall windows ? Please help

usually, scsi mode means it is hooked to a secondary controller instead of the main AHCI controller. Make sure that isn't hooked to the Marvell controller (white ports) on that board. The only other cause for the drive to be designated a scsi drive is if the Intel controller were in raid mode.

ok tried every concievable combination of cable, port, bios,o.c,software, update, reset, fresh install, bios flash and driver and the best i can get from my kingston ssd v200 is 170mb/s and thats on asus ports . so i think i got a bumb mobo and its time to upgrade .
