I edit video almost every day as I am a YouTuber. I upgraded to an ssd to make it a little faster. I am wondering if buying a compatible 8gb ram card to make the ram from 8gb to 16gb increase the speed of the computer and export times?

This leif3d guy explains it very well in this post: "Ram, like the name states (Random access memory), is for memory purposes only, not for calculations, so if you are asking "will I render the same scene faster with more Ram", the answer is no.

The only case this is untrue is if you are running out of Ram, in which case your computer will access the hard drive for virtual memory and go to a crawl. In this instance you will obviously benefit from more Ram.

In general terms:

If you need faster renders, get more CPU power. If you need a faster viewport get a faster video card. If you need to render a crazy scene with millions of polygons and dozens of textures, then you will need a lot ram to be able to keep that in memory for fast...

Are you using all 8gb of your ram? If not then no it wont help with rendering times or overall responsiveness of your pc. Rendering time will mainly be based on your cpu performance, and I would expect all that great rendering performance with an amd apu like that A10 9600P.

It will help with programs that heavily relay on RAM. Video editing programs take a lot of memory so it will most probably help you to some extent. Check RAM usage while you do video editing and you will see if more is needed or not. Another good indication is size of Page file if it's left to Windows to manage, Larger PF, more RAM you need.

With the A10's GPU and, to a lesser extend CPU functions - faster RAM can be of much more benefit than simply 'more RAM'.

As Dunlop mentioned, unless you're utilizing all of your available memory, adding more won't be of much benefit, if any at all.

The slowest part of your PC is the A10 APU, which you couldnt do much about even if it was a dekstop and not a laptop.

If you are doing photoshop or video rendering and are truley maxing out your memory then yes going to 16gb will help.
Otherwise more RAM is not going to increase perfo0rmance by any noticable amount. Since you only have a single stick (and thus single channel) then getting a second stick to have dual channel would give you at best 8-10% increase but this is likely going to be much less due to the CPU bottleneck you have.
