[SOLVED] Hardware reserved only 2.4MB?

I recently did a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit onto a spare HDD I had lying around. In task manager it shows 2.4MB of Hardware Reserved. That seems to good to be true!

My previous OS was Windows 8 Pro 32 bit. I still have it on a separate HDD in my system (Dual-Boot until I can get all of my programs up and running in the 64 bit OS). In the old OS' Task Manager it shows 770MB Hardware Reserved. Initially I was using integrated graphics in this computer, but since have installed a GPU, and have recently upgraded the GPU. Could it be that the old 32 bit OS is "remembering" the setup without a GPU, while the new 64 bit install already had the GPU and allocated less RAM for hardware because of this?

Is only 2.4MB hardware reserved realistic?

Solution
The hardware reserved amount often listed relates to the on board graphics solution you have on your motherboard.
By inserting a Pci-e based graphics card with it`s own dedicated memory on board.

The result was the graphics chip set on the motherboard was disabled.
As hardware reserved devices use system memory, or a portion of it for resources.

It`s as simple as that.

That is the way I understand it also, but when the GPU was first installed, shouldn't Windows have "released" some of the hardware reserved? It wasn't until I did a clean Windows install that the hardware reserved went down to 2.4MB. If I boot up the old OS, it still shows the 770MB hardware reserved. (not complaining, just curious).
