Hello,

I have a geforce 970 and it runs ok on my system, which is perfectly capable of running a 1080.
I would like to know if it makes sense to upgrade the GPU or just wait for the next generation.

Thanks

Solution
If the 970 is doing what you want, and doing it well (settings you want, FPS you expect etc) then there's no need to upgrade - especially at 1080p

If you're pushing beyond 1080p, a GTX 1080 is a powerhouse at 1440p and a very capable 4K card.

The 1080Ti and 2080 will be out this year, not to mention AMD Vega, so I'd hang on a little while to make sure you get a worthwhile upgrade for your money. If you really need a 4K card then a 1080 would help, but the next gen will be even better for that.
