I'm thinking about upgrading my processor in the future with more cores, but I'm not sure which one is compatible with my motherboard and the best one.

The processor I have is AMD A4-6300 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics

The Motherboard I have is A55F2-M3

Thank you in Advance :)

If you stick with your motherboard which supports FM2 CPU's. I'd say the AMD A10-6700 Quad Core would be the best in my opinion for your motherboard.

IF you change your motherboard to a FM3+ board your open to a-lot more core's and processing power. It will cost more, but in the long run would be beneficial.

@Paul NZ thank you for the website that helped

@Slow Pri yes I plan to stick with the this motherboard, but wouldn't the AMD A10-6800 Series be better since it has more frequency??? I was checking the link that Paul NZ posted.

Here is a link to the possible cpu upgrades.

Your A4-6300 is a dual core with a passmark rating of 2222 and a single thread rating of 1367.
It is the single thread performance that is most important for the gamer.
Few games can use more than 2-3 cores, but some games DO require 4 threads to run.

The A10-6700 mentioned above is a 4 core processor that sells for $140 or so.
It has a passmark rating of 4604 and a single thread rating of 1522.

That is a reasonable upgrade, but that will be as far as it goes.
AMD cores are weak and not good for gaming.

You buy a APU for the excellent integrated graphics.
But, there are no real good upgrades, particularly for a gamer.
If you install a superior discrete graphics card, you will have thrown away the big advantage of the APU.
Then, you are left with a relatively weak cpu. Most games depend on only a few fast cores.
The possible upgrades are to more cores, but few games will use more than 2-3 cores so more cores are not very helpful.
Bottom line.....
What you get with a APU is what you will live with forever.

Socket FM3 was supposed to be Zen. It was axed, and became AM4.

FM2 CPU's are compatible with FM2+ motherboards, but FM2+ CPU's don't work with FM2 motherboards. I learned the hard way that there's apparently a difference. Make sure you aren't trying to stick newer FM2+ chips into that motherboard.

If you have a discrete graphics card and don't need the onboard graphics, you could get something like the older Athlon 760k or 750k. Otherwise, yeah, the A10 6700 mentioned above is probably the best thing you can put in that motherboard. The 6800 is FM2+, and physically won't fit.
