So I was curious about the new patches for AMD and stupidly updated it, even though it ran perfectly fine. Now I can't even remember my last working patch and the current newer ones keep crashing my computer while I'm watching twitch or youtube. Is there a way to find out what patches I used to use to go back to the old one that worked?

Another way to maybe fix this if I couldn't find the patch number is what this shutdown message is. Please help me decipher this code?

AS much as I want this to be the actual (and really smart answer, good thinking!) method, AMD GPU's have a certain way of installing drivers, which require us to completely remove all AMD related drivers then reinstall the new ones.

Unfortunately, uninstalling it regresses the GPU to the base patch and rollbacks don't work after that. :(

well, its nice they remove their previous drivers but sometimes its not helpful.

In theory, System Restore should have a restore point set for the day you upgraded drivers as its meant to run whenever drivers or updates are created. What version of windows are you on (as I always assume win 10)? so i can show you how to get there (If it is win 10).

Windows 7. And yes I would've thought about system restore but this problem has been going on longer than 2 weeks now.

I don't suppose it downloads the drivers into download folder cause then it might still have the previous installer you used.

since you have AMD I can guess driver thats creating error is atikmpag.sys or something similar to that (there are two drivers that start with ati still, would think amd would rename them) but you can download and run who crashed to confirm it - it scans dump files and will show a summary of error

copy/paste it here as it might be a different file name...

On Wed 1/18/2017 8:45:18 PM your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\011817-14851-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: atikmpag.sys (atikmpag+0xF3B4)
Bugcheck code: 0x116 (0xFFFFFA800FF87010, 0xFFFFF880032E63B4, 0x0, 0x2)
Error: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\atikmpag.sys
product: AMD driver
company: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
description: AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: atikmpag.sys (AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.).
Google query: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

You were right. :0 So I should look for an updated version of the file you mentioned?

Hey, sorry for the delayed response, moving out.

I will attempt the method the person mentioned in the thread you posted and I'll respond back here if issue still prevails.

Alright issue still persists. I may have to look for the old file somehow. Would you recommend this option?

Actually, I think its now fixed? I might just jinx myself. But basically I just uninstalled the drivers in safe mode, deleted the entire AMD folder in my C drive, installed via auto detector, and now watching 3 streams at once doesn't seem to crash. But if it does crash, I think I'll have to look for that broken file.

Thanks for the help!
