I switched my APU for a CPU, computer keeps crashing and getting Blue Screens

I started out just looking for a better CPU, one that runs faster and I wasn't really depending on my APU for it's GPU cores since I currently have a EVGA GTX 1070. My APU is an A10-7700K. And the CPU I just put in is a Athlon X4 880K. It worked for about 2 hours then it started crashing. I've received codes such as Kernel Security Check Failure, Bad Pool Header, and APC Index Mismatch. I've been researching this for several hours and so for I've tried updating my BIOS to the most current version, I ran an sfc /scannow in my cmd prompt and it came up clean, I've checked all my windows drivers and display drivers, everything is up to date. I've been thinking about doing some kind of windows repair restart maybe? It also seems to crash randomly the only correlation being when I start putting some ounce of load on my computer. I will gladly answer any questions. I'm kind of at my wits end.

Current specs:

AMD Athlon X4 880K (previous was APU A10-7700k)
EVGA Nvidia GTX 1070
Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H
EVGA 600W PSU
Corsair 32gb 2133 RAM
1TB HDD (can't remember brand)
250gb SSD (can't remember brand)

Installing a stock AMD heat-sink is super easy, but I will provide links to videos that will help you.

+ Applying thermal paste and AMD CPU heatsink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRRWbQUqW1Y / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdyWDOf19J8
+ Installing and re-installing Windows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3Z3zFrPxQQ (DO YOU HAVE A DISC WITH WINDOWS ON IT ?) / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFJwiILbsdo

When installing thermal paste you do not want to put a lot on the CPU. I always go by the size of a pea or even slightly less to be honest (As the CPU heats up the thermal paste expands).

You will want clean the existing thermal paste off before applying fresh paste, using CPU cleaning kits (Very inexpensive) or rubbing alcohol...
Don't think I can add much to what you should have come across when you investigated the problem. What the common thread between those errors seems to be is drivers, which you state you've updated. To rule out the driver issue I think you'll need to configure the PC to create dmp files so others can help you identify the likely driver causing the crashes.

I'm also a bit suspicious about the last part of any load on the CPU and it crashing. What is your thermal margin?

I have always done a clean install of windows when swapping out a CPU as it is a core component (CPU/Motherboard/Boot Drive). You could try a system repair and might get lucky, if not try a clean install and that should fix it (providing you dont have a faulty CPU). Also what cooler are you using for the CPU? if it is crashing when under load it could be a thermal issue.

Put the 7700k back in the 880k is NOT and upgrade it is the exact same CPU cores without the integrated video and clocked 300 MHz higher. The 7700k will easily of 300 MHz to match the performance. There is no upgrade from a 7700k for that board. You didn't buy a "CPU vs an APU" you bought an APU with graphics disabled because of a flaw in fab process.

I've read that sometimes when you do a CPU upgrade you may need to reinstall the OS so that the drivers are completely reset and compatible with the chipset? I may be wording that improperly I apologize.

And Im not sure about the thermal paste margin, can you explain that a little further for me? The cpu cooler already came with a square bit of thermal paste on it but in the reviews they recommended using a little bit more than what was already provided, so I did, would putting too much thermal paste cause these kinds of problems?

Would you mind walking me through something like that? I've only been doing computer stuff for a little over a year and have never reinstalled Windows or had to do a system repair. Maybe a link to a user friendly guide? I'm using the stock AMD cpu cooler that came in the box.

Would putting my APU back in make my problems disappear or will there be lingering effects.

Hope this helps you.
