Well, im at the point where my router is out of ethernet cable slots, that can work with a computer, console and so on. So im thinking about buying a ethernet cable splitter, so i can connect my Xbox One and my gaming rig at the same time. Will it reduce the speed of my internet? or should i go for the wireless rute on my pc and go with cable on the xbox? At the moment, im expirencing alot of lag, while playing on my xbox, even thoe i've got 80/80 internet :p

The kind of splitter i'm thinking about, is this:

Solution
Just buy a decent Ethernet switch...

They're like 15-25€.
Anything that advertises itself as an Ethernet splitter I wouldn't have much faith in
Do not even consider any form of cable spliter. These actually do the reverse of what you want. They do not increase the number of ports they increase the number of ports a cable can use. So you now would need 2 ports on your router to connect the cable because you can now use the same cable for double the number of devices.

The router does not support the ability to plug the rj45 cable part into the port. The router itself would have to support the splitting which it does not.

These are generally used when you have a cable inside a wall and can not run another one and can not place a switch at the remote end. In these cases you would plug 2 router jacks into a spliter on the near end and get 2 end pc ports on the remote. You are still using 2 router ports it just is using a single cable to accomplish it...of course limiting you to 100m at the same time.
