Internet issues related to wifi.

So I have had this problem for a while but recently it has gone worse. My problem is my wifi speed drops like alot or disconnects entirely. Usually when internet speed is good I get maybe up to 20mbit/s but when speed is bad it goes to about 5 mbit/s or even 3mbit/s (im talking about download speed here). Basically my internet goes up or down quite alot and it causes frustation for me since I play quite alot multiplayer games and having ping spikes is quite annoying. I tried to see what speed I get when im in same room with the router then I would get good speed. Seems like my room might be disrupting the speed but Im not sure. I also tried ethernet cable and internet is just fine but since I want to stay in my room I cant use it and I cant change router location either. Months ago everything was fine no drops or anything or very rarely. Now speed drops like every day and comes back and so on. Im asking if there is anything I can do to improve my wifi connection. I tried to change wifi channels but it only slightly helped.

Other option would be to try a powerline network adapter which should have more consistant speeds then wifi (and better ping/latency then even a strong wifi signal).
