i7 6700k Subpar Preformance?

Just got a new i7 6700k to pair with my gtx 1070 and ran some benchmarks, seems like I'm getting lower scores on everything CPU based than everyone else, is something wrong with my CPU, or is there a bottleneck happening. My cheap motherboard only supports 2133 mhz ram speeds but my ram is clocked at 2800 mhz, could this be an issue for CPU preformance? CPU is not overclocked, neither is my GPU or memory. I am willing to invest in a new motherboard to get better ram preformance as well as get one that supports CPU overclocking.

Yeah, it's a pretty good bet that the run you compared yours to had an OC on the CPU. Just look at the details of the run, and it should tell you.

But I also agree that your results look good with what you have, regardless. What you're seeing is pure bone stock performance numbers, and in most cases, whatever you see from public 3DMark results will have overclocks (usually on both the CPU AND GPU).

Only you can decide if you even need/want to OC, but for the most part, with that setup, you'd only be doing it for better bench numbers. It would help in games, too, but with a 1070, unless you're trying to run at 4K, you really don't even NEED to OC, at least not right now.
if you want to get out of this world benchmarks then you have to get top of the line parts. if you want to take advantage of the full speed of your ram you would need a motherboard with a Z170/Z270 chipset. overclocking it would help too since you have the K version of the CPU but like the ram you don't have the right motherboard for that

Thinking about getting an ASUS Z170P

Would this be a good choice?

Not the best for high overclocks, but yeah, it's fine, if you're on a tight budget.

Could you suggest one for under $200 that would allow me to oc my cpu to around 4.5 ghz and atleast 2800 mhz ram speed support?

Thanks! I'll start looking for z270 boards. Not gonna get this one but instead an MSI because my setup is red and black
