This started happening on my IBM Thinkpad 600 after my Netgear WG511T started showing wifi networks with glitchy SSIDs and channel numbers that are impossibly high and low (-999, 2915, 0, etc.) I then replaced the card with a Linksys WPC54G Hardware V3 and software. Now the system gets windows protection errors and when it does manage to boot, the graphics are reverted to default and had to be reset, but after restarting to apply changes, the Windows Protection errors started reappearing... Could this be a hardware conflict? And is there any chance of getting the Netgear card to work if there is a way to fix the channels and SSIDs?
