I'm planning to build a new entry level gaming PC(i dont intend to do any overclocking). I want to spend less on the motherboard but more on the GPU but i could get a basic skylake motherboard for like 56 usd whereas i could also spend like 99 usd to get a mobo with usb 3.1, usb-c, etc.
But the only devices i connect with my PC are my Phone, USB drives and hard drives but will i ever need these additional connections?

Also im planning to go for the Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2. Is it a good motherboard or can you recommend something better at similar pricepoint?

Thank You

Audio quality is pretty much the same on any modern mobo, the difference is that expensive mobos have more ram slots,crossfire-sli compability, better vrm cooling and some...

No,dont bother with 3.1 unless you use devices that can utilise its full speed and that speed is was you need.

If you dont overclock overclock(as you said)grab the cheapest branded mobo and use the price difference for a better cpu-gpu.

do you NEED it ? no

WILL you need it? that is the question if you are getting a new phone and or a new usb stick//back up drive and you NEED it to XFER as fast as BALLS then yeah okay get 3.1

but you should get by with out it just fine and if you latter on find you need it then grab an expansion card :D

I also wanted to ask how big of a difference would be if i went with a higher end mobo with better audio capacitors and how big will the difference be because im going to get the bose companion 2 series 3 speakers and i dont want the motherboard to hamper the audio quality but will it really make a noticable difference?

Audio quality is pretty much the same on any modern mobo, the difference is that expensive mobos have more ram slots,crossfire-sli compability, better vrm cooling and some extra components like m.2,usb 3.1-c etc.

For simple use with a locked cpu even an i7 will work on a cheap h110 mobo. The only thing that maybe really be an issue is ram slots, the low budget mobos have 2 slots and its wise to use an 8gb dimm, also most of them are limited to 16gb,but even then 16gb for future gaming.

Ultimately your question comes down to future proofing. How long do you intend to keep this build? A few years? Don't bother with 3.1. Much longer, it may be a good idea as you could benefit from it in the future.

As far as your mobo and not overclocking. I wouldn't just go "super cheap". I'd still want to be sure I could get some of the best ram and m.1 ssd connections
