144hz 1080p gaming

Solution
Either simply overpowers at 1080p.

The 1070 can for example deliver fps in the mid 80s in Witcher 3 / the 1070 upper 90s (a pretty demanding title) ... at that point, do you care as long as you are maintaining 60+ fps ? As for cost, if ya wait a bit, when the 1080 Ti drops, you'll be able to buy that 1080 for very close to the cost of the current 1080's price.

My friend did a heaven benchmark and compared it to online benchmarks
1080p extreme tess, ultra quality
gtx 1070 110.4 fps
Most overclocked 1080s get around 120 fps
that much difference? :O

Go with your choice, I just gave a suggestion and you shouldn't have asked here if you knew the differences. It does come down to your budget now because there is a pretty big price difference in both the cards. I'd actually say go for the 1070, you'd save big.
