Hesitant about buying the 7700K because of high temps

I have been waiting for Kaby Lake to release for at least two months and I promised myself that it would be the last part that I'd wait for. Now that it's released, I've heard that it's temps are WAAAY too hot and that the only people who are actually happy with their temps are either using liquid coolers or have delided their chips, none of which I want to do. I was planning on using a nice air cooler such as a Coolermaster hyper 212x or something equivalent. I DO NOT want to go for water cooling because it is my first build and I do not have the skills to manage one.

I also want to have the ability to overclock with my cpu. However, IF I do overclock it will be very light (perhaps one GHz higher) and I would not be overclocking anytime soon after building my PC. It would be later once my CPU starts to get old.

I really just want to buy a CPU and build my PC as soon as possible. It is stopping me from buying my other parts and building my PC. Please help and tell me whether I should get the 7700k or not. I don't mind if I would go for a 6700K instead because if the temps are this high EVEN at idle, I don't see the point of getting this CPU. I would just prefer it simply because it is newer and I like the motherboards.

Please help!

Thanks.

You're fine with an Evo 212X, also i'm sure you will be able to get a good frecuency on overclocking.

Now, in a future if you want to get higher performance in overclock, i recommend you get a closed water cooling like the H100iv2 or similar in the market.

I've only seen a few instances, you are planning on a 270 board and not 170, as early tests on 170 were a little warm?[/quotemsg]

That depends on what CPU I get. I would like to get a z270 board, however.

But then how come so many people are having horrible temps?

only get a Z170 board if you have a skylake cpu to hand to do the bios flash.

Hi guys,
I was just reading about not getting a new kaby lake cpu.
do you think the newest cpus are going to recommend air coolers.
I do not understand why gaming stores sell, complete gaming rigs
and still use the stock cooler. It is a joke.
Intel recommends proper cooling, water cooling is the nearest thing we have
I just wish my gtx 1080 was a water cooled one too.
they where an extra 200 bucks what a joke.
I bet if some company made all their graphics cards at the high end with water cooling,
they would sell more and have less warranty claims from overcooking the cpu.
I do believe they make and sell gaming stuff with overclocking specs, just to sell
more to gamers who believe they are getting a better deal and performance, when it
all boils down to the motherboard quality parts, proper use of artic paste.
Having 32 gig of memory, use windows 10, I know, I know, but it has directx 12
for gaming.
and keep all voltages standard or auto.
voltage will kill a cpu and or damage it.
more problems, more lockups, bios has to be reset,\
who wants the hassle.
Think of it this way,
you want to have fun playing games not worry about laggy, performance
that is a buzzkill.
Save up, buy water cooling, do not use air cooling it is useless.
My old sandy bridge idled at 23 celius. my kaby lake at 35, but
the sandy ran at 3.4 ghz and the kaby runs at 4.2 - 4.5 ghz at 35-40 idle.
keep on gaming
