Hello everybody im new to the forums here. I am looking for some advice in building a gaming pc. I am new to pc gaming and this will be my first build so i am just a little unsure which components are best for my needs. My criteria is pretty simple i am looking to build a somewhat compact gaming setup. I am looking for something that has a small footprint and takes up little room so it is capable of being used in the living room as a gaming device on my tv while also having solid hardware and being capable of running modern games on high settings while also being somewhay quite. I am currently looking at the Bitfenix Prodigy and Prodigy M cases as the most likely case i will use however i am open to any suggestions. The case doesnt have to be extremely small i just dont want anything huge. Another goal of mine here is for whatever i build to be somewhat quite as i intend to use it in my living room. As far as performance and budget go i am trying to get the absolute best all around hardware possible that will work in a smaller case for all around computing that includes gaming, video editing and other tasks while staying under my build budget which is about $2,000. If it goes a little over or under by a few hundred its not a big deal that is just what i am looking to spend. So far i have picked out some parts but i want to wait for some advice before i start ordering. Specifically in regards to the case and cooling as i currently plan on using the Intel I7-7700K and a GTX 1080. Thank you in advance all help and advice is appreciated.

A proposed ITX setup is below.

MB - ASUS or Gigabyte with WiFi built-in. ASUS is lagging behind on their latest boards so your current options are limited to ASRock or Gigabyte. The B250 chipset below is for non-overclocking.
MEM - B250 / H270 is limited to DDR4-2400. Only two memory slots on an ITX board so consider going with 16GB now and always install modules in matching pairs to take advantage of the dual memory controllers.
SSD - SK Hynix, Crucial MX300 or the Sandisk x400. The Samsung EVO would be nice if the price came down.
HD - The WD Blue is a good performer.
GPU - The MSI GTX 1080 is regarded as being very quiet and the fanless PSU will also keep fan noise down. Said to be inaudible from a few feet away when under 70% fan speed
CASE - You will need to remove the drive cage to fit that "long" GPU.
PSU - XFX, Seasonic, the EVGA G2 / G3 lineup, or filter through the Tier 1 or Tier 2 list. www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Thank you for your response. Alot of good information in there. It looks like i might be able to accomplish this for less money than i had anticipated as well. Final thoughts are there any advantages to going with the prodigy M case and using a micro ATX motherboard instead? I understand that the case itself is the same size. Also i am also a little curious in regards to cooling what my best options are either way. I understand cooling is important for a case so small.
