Dear experts,

A week ago I bought a new PC case (Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow). I’d formally had everything in a CiT Goblin case, which I certainly wouldn't recommend to anyone. The reason I bought the case was two-fold; firstly, to allow decent cable-management and secondly to allow proper airflow. I should probably give you my specs... Here they are:

Mainboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 3
CPU: Intel i7 4790K 4.0Ghz
GPU: MSI R9 390 512bit 8GB DDR5
RAM: 2x 8GB HyperX Fury 1866Mhz
HDD: 2x WD Green 2TB
SSD: 1x 500GB Evo 850
PSU: Corsair CX750M
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

The same hardware in the old CiT case ran games pretty well, although my PC did get rather hot:

GTA5 75-95 fps high settings
Dying Light 70-120 fps
Tomb Raider 75-90 fps
ArmA 3 60+ fps

So, all the hardware was moved into the new case a week ago, but my games are running at 30 fps max (although Dying Light has run at 160fps here and there). I’ve checked the hardware and it’s all installed correctly. I did an online benchmark and the CPU and GPU came out a bit low and everything else high. It’s been back to the shop twice and the computer mechanic assured me he’d had Dying Light running at over 120+ fps for over 5 hours.

I checked some of the posts on Tom’s Hardware about MSI 390 having issues with fans not running, as I’d noticed that my fans both ran until my PC entered Windows desktop, which I realise is perfectly normal as they aren’t needed as there’s hardly any load.

I’m completely baffled and don’t know which direction to take, as I have no firm information as to what may be causing this issue.

I would really appreciate any guidance in this matter. I will be happy to provide any further info needed. Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I really appreciate Tom’s Hardware being there.

Could I ask that those reading this post who have the same issues or similar to refrain from posting “me too” replies as they just make it so there’s a lot of useless info for people to get through for those needing answers. If you do have similar problems just subscribe to the thread and let those with helpful replies to post. I don’t want to dissuade anyone from replying; but I’m sure you can appreciate the frustration of my situation and that I’d like to get it resolved as quickly as possible.

My grateful thanks in advance.

P.S. All dirvers are up to date.

Okay, well I've got it sorted now and here's how I did it: First I downloaded whql-win7-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-16.10.1-oct13 from https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/Drivers/AMD_Radeon/ and AMD Clean Uninstall Utility from http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx. I used the Clean uninstall to get rid of everything, then rebooted and installed Crimson 16.10.1

Now my games are running at decent speeds and everything is as it should be.
