i know this has been posted before but my current drive only has about 20gb left of 1tb. i bought i second drive about a year ago but as soon as i plugged it in windows made it my backup drive and now it says it it full. i dont want a backup drive i want to have a empty drive so i can put all my large files on there. i know that you go into disk management or something and then hit format but i get so nervous when deleting data like that. also if i move say half of my data onto the second drive will it speed up my boot times and general use? also i havent defragged in about 4 years should i do that ? thanks .

Solution
Just format it but watch which one you format although it wouldn't let you format system partitions.
Moving some files to another drive is not going to speed anything up if you have enough free space, 10GB minimum for Windows.
