Torn between either getting a 6600k/7600k and with that comes the z170/z270 choice. Seeing as there is not much difference performance wise between the cpus, what should I consider before choosing between this combo?

Hi there,

I would also go with the newer 7600k / z270 option. Performance wise there is only a marginal performance increase, cost wise i suppose the same. However the newer technology would be the reason to pick this up, unless you are on a very tight budget.

It's very simple the newer the better the kabylake will have slightly higher clock speeds and slightly higher price.
Go for the one you can afford or at best deal at the time of purchase.
As they have less difference the performance will also be similar
But if you won't buy a dedicated GPU go with the 7th Gen as it has newer integrated GPU

Cpu's are same price. motherboards - depends as you know a lot of options. Already have a MSI 1060 6GB gaming x.
