Computer Freezing. SSD Undetected. Solutions / Fix?

Hi guys,

I recently updated the graphics card, motherboard and power supply of my computer (new specs below, PSU is EVGA supernova 750 G2). Recently I have been experiencing some issues with my computer freezing. I usually shut it down after a while and, when I next boot up, the SSD (where my win8.1 os is stored) will not appear in the boot menu. If I leave my PC turned off for a while however and come back to it later, the SSD will be present again and my PC will boot correctly. The first time this happened I just left my PC assuming it would sort itself out, this resulted in a blue screen and a corrupted OS (I was able to recover all my files and 90% of my program files easily enough). I had thought that this could be something to do with my new power supply however, I'm only having issues with my SSD, not my HDD or other components.

This is what it sounds like. It's a percentage of how much life is left in the SSD. You have a raw value of 0 so yeah, that looks dead. I guess the "Current Value" says 100 which is a bit confusing, but that looks to be the "Normalized Value" not the "Current Value". Not every manufacturer reports the normalized value correctly.

However some manufacturers do use SSD Life USED instead of SSD Life LEFT for that attribute so I guess you could potentially say it's 0% SSD Life USED and 100% SSD Life Left.

If we think that way though, your retired block count also looks pretty bad which...

Solution
Since you indicate the problem affects only the SSD, and not your HDD, on the face of it the SSD is suspect. (BTW, are you indicating the Win 8.1 OS is installed on both drives - both can be booted to the OS?)

In any event, assuming you haven't as yet done so, check out the health of the SSD using the Transcend SSD Scope - see...

Thanks for all the help guys. I assumed it was most likely the drive but just wanted to make sure there wasn't any chance of it being an issue with something else. I wiped the drive completely and reinstalled windows (not sure if that was overkill?) and now everything is running beautifully :)
