Hello people. Today I bought a new CPU which is the 7700k. Before installing it I updated the Bios to make sure it was the latest bios so it could use the new gen CPU. My motherboard is the MSI Z170A Gaming M7. I have 16GB Ram G.Skill Ripjaws V and SLI MSI 1080 Gaming X. Now the problem is that once I changed the CPU it gave me the message that cpu changed so I had to access bios to make the changes but my Bios won't open. I checked on my pc properties and it says I still have my old CPU which was the I7 6700. When I open videos the videos load but won't play and my realtek sound system won't recognize my audio jacks. I was wondering if I need to install the bios again? Also if I do have to install or reset bios will it erase the update I did on the Bios for the new gen cpus?

Thanks ALL

I would clear CMOS using the jumper method or button if your board has them. IF the unit doesnt have either remove the battery and wait a few minutes with NOTHING connected to the board. IE no power supply hit the power button with no power supplied and it will clear the capacitors and CMOS should be cleared. The hardest part is removing the battery.

not that hard. use a small flat head screw driver.

take the batter out. wait 10 seconds with the power supply un plugged. then put the battery back in and plug the power supply back in.
