So I've read a few different threads on similar issues but I'm still stuck. First off here are my specs.
Xeon e3-1230v5 cpu, MSi Krait v5 Mobo, I have a samsung 240 evo ssd, 120gb ocz m.2 ssd and a standard 1t hdd. windows is currently installed on the samsung ssd.

So the first thing I tried was to clone the samsung to the ocz and while the transfer worked, i couldn't change the drive paths for the ocz to boot. So then i tried a fresh install using the the windows media tool and usb drive.

That got me to the point of install but at first I got the 0x80300002 error which i found out was because my ocz was MBR and not GPT. Ive fixed that in disk managment.

Then after trying to fresh install again i got the "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one" message. The drive is formatted and partitioned.

I've tried unplugging the other drives and running the boot in uefi only but to no avail.

I'm kinda going in circles now so im not sure where to go next?

Any help would be awesome

Solution
Disconnect all other drives.
During the install, when it asks where, select Custom.
Delete ALL existing partitions, leaving one large space.
Install to that, letting Windows create what it needs.

Ok so I've solved this issue and thought I would share my fix in case anybody else comes across this.

So as previously stated my o/s was on the Samsung SSD (240gb evo)

After installing the OCZ NVMe drive into the M.2 slot and logging into windows, press windows + x to bring up the menu and left click on dick management.

The window that pops up will display what drives you have installed, their drive letter and name of the drive, layout, type, file system, capacity and so on. Underneath this table, locate the NVMe drive.

The panel will have 2 sections. A grey section on the left which will say something like disk2, Basic, 120Gb and online and a white section on the right which will show the partitions of that drive the name and capacity. If the white section has this right click that section and delete volume, if it doesn't then it shouldn't be formatted and have no partition anyway. Since this is a new drive no data should be on it to loose. DO NOT REFORMAT THIS! (That's where I went wrong, windows will do it for you during install)

Now on the right hand grey panel side right click it and select convert to GPT. (This is required for NVMe drives) If it says convert to MBR, leave it, it will already be in GPT

Also after this I logged out of windows and shut down, turning the power off at the back and removing the sata cables from my other drives, just to rule out interference. My bios auto selects between legacy and UEFI but I selected UEFI in the bios just in case as well.

I then inserted the USB win10 media drive and reset. Windows installed and I am now in the process of reinstalling my apps and the like. I'm actually writing this as I wait for chrome to download.

Hope this helps someone

hey thanks for the reply, your info is correct but I needed to delete the partition in windows first as it wouldn't let me during install, a little thing but it tripped me up.

Hello and I am late to the party but I can not get my Toshiba 256 GB M.2 to boot on Windows 10 at all. I can see it in Windows but not in the Bios at all. I have the Asua 970 pro gaming I can format the drive and like I said I can see in Windows just fine and that's it. I still can not get it to boot. I would really love the help if someone can help me PLEASE !!!! thank you so very much. I did the step by step I found online but I still can't get it to work. I have been able to put Windows 10 on the M.2 and see it in Windows Explorer I just can't get it to boot from the BIOS

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi. Im not sure if this is your problem but when installing windows to an nmve drive it cant be pre formatted. Remove formatting in disk management if you can and set drive type from mb to gp if i remember correctly. After that windows installed for me. Hope that helps
