Hey guys I got a intel i5 2400, gigabyte mini mobo, 8gb ram. First off I bought a r9 380, installed it, worked great ran plenty of games at max. Then my computer turned off and started telling my monitor I had no signal. I wasn't able to get into windows computer would just keep restarting.. I installed new windows and same issue still. I figured the card was faulty... went out and bought a gtx 770.. installed it everything seemed fine and then I tried running a game and I have the sameness issues as before however now there's green lines all over the screen.. please tel me I didn't fry two GPUs.. I don't know what's the issue is my power supply is 850 watt I even bought a new psu tr2 and it's still giving me the same issue when I try this GPU.. what's going on guys? I can boot into safe mode but again geeen lines all over the screen. My bios aren't up to date

Hello... As a first "Simple Test" could we try just using your CPU/GPU Intel® HD Graphics 2000 and test without a GPU installed?
1) Enable just the CPU/IGT and disable the ext pcie in your MB BIO's
2) set some system memory for it's use (save&exit)
3) connect your monitor to your MB video connections.
4) Boot to Windows and install the Intel® HD Graphics 2000 driver if needed.

Two other possibilities. The cable between the monitor and the PC may not be properly seated and tightened down or it could be bad. Second is the monitor. Does it display the bios post messages? Can you check the system with a borrowed monitor? The monitor may be going bad.

Ok I tried that.. in my bios theres no option to disable the onboard graphics.. theres only two options to enable or to enable but to use as PCI as a first choice if the card is present.. I enabled the onboard but so far I cant seem to see anything on the screen.. Also I can confirm that if I plug in my old HD 5850, it works fine.

I have a tv and a monitor.. tried on both and still same issue.. they also use different hdmi cords. I can get into bios.. the bios splash screen is distorted.. when I get into the actual bios themselves it looks fine.. until now when I go into them it now looks distorted.. if I try to reinstall windows that screen is completely green can't see anything.

Do you happen to have a video calling program so maybe we could talk on there and I can show in more detail? There are no lines, everything looks ok. It had the newest nvidia drivers.. and would that cause issues with the bios and startup screen looking distorted? Same thing happened when I was trying the R9 380

Just tested my 5850 and it boots up fine.. splash screen looks normal.. bios look normal.. windows looks normal.. why did both these new cards the r9 380 and gtx 770 work at first.. and now no longer.. are they fried now..?

Hello... ok... good... #1 test... no monitor or cable problem... was this the same cable you used with the video card?

#2 test... If you got the same results from both Video cards in the same slot... I would get a light and magnifying Glass and look at your MB video card slot for any dirty or mis-aligned connector Pins next.

Ive tried two differemt HDMI cords.. both work with the HD 5850 and both worked with the r9 and gtx upon first installation.

But what about the 5850 working? Wouldn't that mean the connectors are fine if the 5850 works?

Do you have skype or something we could use for a second if you don't mind? Also update.. I put in the R9 380.. theres no artifacts or pixels on the repair screen.. doesn't boot into windows on its own.. i got it to boot up however in safe mode.. no artifacts or lines at all. Where as the gtx was completely distorted.. what can I try next while i'm on safe mode with networking.. should I uninstall all previous graphic drivers and install the amd drivers? If so how do I go about doing that uninstalling all drivers.

Hello... sure I can do Skype with ya... I have no video but you won't need to see me B D... Ya you have a lot of good questions and a hard problem to communicate about on keyboards... private message me to exchange personals... and let me get my side up and running. B )

I added you, doesn't say its been accepted.. also update for you or anybody else reading.. I used (cant remember the name) program to remove all graphic drivers.. that actually allowed me to boot up the r9 380 again.. I boot up to windows.. I try installing amd drivers through device manager.. says already up to date.. which cant be true since it says generic displayer adapter.. anywho I tried running the amd catalyst.. it gets about 90% done and then I hear the computer turn off and reboot.. I've tried several times.. what gives? Is it the PSU? I've tried both my Kentak 850 W and a TR2 600 watt.. are they both just poorly designed?
