Hello everyone.

First, my system specs:

CPU: i5 6600k OC to 4.4Ghz
2. CPU Cooler: Hyper EVO 212
3. Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170 UD5
4. RAM: Crucial 16Gb DDR4 2133
5. Boot/OS Drive: Samsung EVO 850 250GB
6. Data/Games Drive: Samsung EVO 850 500GB
7. GPU: EVGA GTX 980ti DDR5
8. Case: Fractal Design R5
9. PSU: Corsair 750W CX750M Lifetime Fan of Corsair. Will not Switch.
10. Fans: 2x Noctua Fans 120mm (One for CPU cooler, other to add to front of Case)
11. Monitor: Acer 1440p 25".
12. Windows 7 64 Home Premium.

I am here because this issue started about 1 hour ago. I was playing a game when all of a sudden my computer went black, got a loud Bzzzzzzzz sound and rebooted itself to the safe screen.
So I went to EVGA and got my driver updated from 375.** to 376.**

I rebooted everything and Temps were fine idling at 48-51C using GPU-Z monitor.

So I did a GPU Temp test using FurMark and it went fine never going above 79-80C.

Then I restarted the game again....

About 1 min into the game I get the same crash again...This time my GPU Fans are like full blast and will not shut off even thou the Computer crashed. So I have to pull the power cord from the wall to turn it all off. <--WEIRD.

I reboot everything and now the idle will not drop below 64C (which is not the normal idle range)

What is wrong?

The Card is only like 18 months old.

Thank you

Hmm...I did a DDU as per EVGA Help Support. It seemed to have stopped the issue on the first game it happened on, until...
I tried a different game and got the Loud Fan Winding after the Buzzing sound lockup and self-reboot again.. I noticed the temp around 73-74C.

So I RMA'd it and awaiting new replacement card. Going to try from there.

Any insight?

My GPU is the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Superclocked+ ACX 2.0+ with Backplate

When I run Furmark the tests are fine. When I updated graphics the problem stopped with one game and started with another. IPDT test was fine just now. I have not tried putting the CPU back to stock speed since I changed it when I built it back in Oct 2015.
I have no issues other than when in Games.
EVGA RMAd the card for me, just waiting for it.

My BIOS is the stock Bios. I'm afraid to try and update it since I have no clue how BIOS works ect.

Edit: If it was a CPU issue wouldn't everything go wonkers? :)

Your symptoms still point me to the PSU. You seem to be having issues when you put a load on the GPU, causing it to require more power than the PSU can deliver at that instant.

As far as updating the mb BIOS, that is only recommended to correct a known issue, or to acquire functionality not available in the current BIOS, like support for a new CPU.

Power supply is 750W, should be more than enough for anything.
Why would it start doing ok for one game and not the other then after updating gpu driver vice versa?
I also did a FurMark test which draws max power and stresses the GPU to the max. It passed.

What is the make/model of PSU do you have?

Are my specs visible at the top of the thread or is it bugged out and can't be seen?
PSU: Corsair 750W CX750M

GPU is running at stock speed. Games auto-update when patched.

Card is 18 months old and it has a 3 year warranty so I'm getting it tomorrow or the next day RMAd. I'll see if the issue is still present then. :)

They are there, I just didn't read the whole thing. :pt1cable:
I agree, 750 Watt should be enough.
Should be and is are two different things.
Have you tried the card in another PC?
