I want to reinstall OS X on a macbook. I looked up OS X Mavericks on the app store, and it wasn't there. I then decided to boot from the Recovery HD. I then booted to where I could select which partition I wanted to boot from. I clicked on Recovery HD. It booted to Mac OS Utilities screen. I thought the Recovery HD was for OS reinstall, not the utilities screen.
Thanks in advance

Solution
Sounds like its new enough to use internet recovery so do this:

1. Switch off the laptop, switch it back on and hold cmd + R until you see the loading bar
2. When recovery is launched open disk utility and erase the current OSX installation (it'll prob say something like Mac SSD or something like that, it's the upper partitions) - you're going to lose everything on that installation but I guess you don't care at this point, you don't need to be afraid if clicking the wrong thing.
3. After it has been erased click the apple logo at the top left, restart then hold cmd + R until you see the globe spinning and it starts booting into internet recovery

Follow the steps to download and reinstall OSX, it'll install the same version of the OS...
