Before I was getting the screen freezes I was experiencing a problem where my pc would switch off and when I re-entered windows I would got a message ( I think from Asus) that my PSU was experiencing power surges. This happened a few times. I think reconnect the power cable to the PSU and that seems to have stopped that surge error message. My problem now is that I get screen freezes with a single color when I do graphic intensive stuff such as gaming or doing benchmarks like 3dmark. The screen freezes forces me to restart my machine. I had a look at the even viewer logs and found my graphic drivers stopped and restarted and then I got a error 41 kernal error which I guess is from me restarting my machine. Would it be possible that the PSU is not delivery enough power to the GPU (Cause of the previous surge issues I was having)? or do you think that the GPU needs replacing. Also I have uninstalled the graphic drivers using the ddu tool or what ever it was called and reinstalled my graphic drivers but this did nothing. I also replaced the hdmi cable. Btw the graphic card is the msi 980ti, cpu is 6600k i5, asus z170m pro and the rest of my stuff is pretty standard.
