hi everyone, does anyone know what chipset my asus z170-a motherboard has? I want to put a kaby lake i7 in it but kaby lake requires the 200/1001 chipset. I'm currently using a i7 6700k cpu.

It'll also have to have the latest BIOS on it to support the 7700K

Doesnt look like the mobo supports flashback, so if the BIOS that's on it now isnt 3007, you'll have to either borrow / buy a CPU that the BIOS supports then flash it.

Then put the 7700k in. Or take it to a shop and ask them to do it

Hey packersfan036 I just bought the same motherboard and will be buying a 7th gen i5 7600k processor to go with it but it needs the latest bios update. Were you able to flash it with the 7th gen CPU inserted or did it do nothing?

i have the Asus z170a motherboard (socket 1151). I have a Skylake i5 6600k and its fantastic. Ive seen benchmarks for Kaby lake and you will get very minor performance boost, not much at all actually ADN the skylake stays SUPER cool with my Hyoper 212 cooler. I suggest the skylake variant of i5 or i7. Did you end up putting the Kaby lake into it? did flashing it with the kaby lake in it work?
