Hey folks,

I am looking to upgrade my HP 15-p030nr laptop's internal 1TB HDD to a 120GB Samsung Evo 850 SSD.

My concern lies with the internal connection between the HDD and the Motherboard. Is there any way for me to know if the ribbon cable connecting the two will be able to support the read/write speed of the SSD? Would the difference even be worth it? Thanks!

its HP so im not surprised. best i can tell you is if you can find some reviews or forum topics on it that might be able to tell you what type of sata port it has

but SATA 3 drives are backward compatible with SATA 2 so it may not be able to take advantage of the speeds of SATA 3...
it depends on what kind of connection your laptop. if it has a SATA 3 slot then it will be able to fully take advantage of the speeds of a SATA SSD if it is SATA 1 it will not. you can weasily find what type of connection you have by looking up the model number of your laptop on HP's website

I already provided a link to the laptops information page on the HP website. There is nothing listed about the type of SATA slot that the laptop has inside.
